Mayra Flores Win

Republican Mayra Flores won the South Texas congressional seat on June 14 with 51% of the votes. This large percentage may be enough to avoid a runoff, and she will be known for her influence on the Hispanic conservative movement in South Texas. Her win demonstrates that the Hispanic vote is majority Republican as the district was more than 80% Hispanic.

This has been labeled as a "historic win" by the media since this seat has been occupied by Democrats for over a century. She is the first Mexican-born woman that is sworn in to Congress as a Republican.

However, her real victory awaits in November for the District 34 general election. Some believe it will be much harder for her to win since District 34 has more Democrat voters. However, many didn't think she would win this round due to Democrats occupying the seat for over a century. What do you think will happen?
