In recent news, CNN has been covering an all of a sudden “controversial” topic: Illegal immigrants and their children are being separated upon arrival at the United States southern border. This is new to people who are misinformed, although the same thing had been going on since the Obama administration, and even the Bush administration. But with Trump and his policies always being ridiculed by mainstream media, this has caused the left to encourage things like abolishing ICE and opening our borders. This overflowing population of illegal immigrants is causing trouble within our country and the Democrats refuse to realize this. Take a good look at Los Angeles, who considers themselves a “sanctuary city.” The crime rate is incredible. In 2016 there were 28,817 reported violent crimes in Los Angeles alone, according to cityrating.com. Reported crimes totaled at a whopping 145,991 according to the same source cited above. This is in one city in California, we cannot let this kind of culture spread throughout our country. The state of California and the western United States is crumbling due to its infrastructure.
Due to Donald Trump tightening down on border policies, the left began an uproar. Democrats were silent about this problem during Obama’s two terms when illegals were pouring in. “There were 12.1 million immigrants living in the country illegally as of January 2014”, according to www.factcheck.org. Now that there is a Republican in the house they have somebody to put the blame on. Since Trump's election, we have seen a decrease in crime by illegal immigrants in the West and a decrease of nearly one hundred thousand illegal immigrants trying to cross the border each year according to www.factcheck.org. These facts directly correlate, but unfortunately, in today’s day and age, it’s feelings over facts.
As for the indirect victims of these crimes, children in no circumstance should be separated from their guardians, but Democrats are picking a fight for one specific crowd and refusing to look at the full picture. The left wants to pick and choose what children they can fight for. They plead and cry about Mexican children being separated from their parents for committing a federal crime. But what about the children in America who have parents in federal prisons? According to prisonfellowship.org, “2.7 million children (1 in 28) currently have a parent behind bars.” In hypothetical terms, if you are currently in high school or college, at least one person in your class is going to have a parent in jail. U.S. Children are being separated from their parents every day, but Democrats only want to recognize one side of the fight.
Donald Trump's strict border policies are going to save our country and we must support him! Democrats want to open our borders and create an anarchy. They have even reverted to name-calling, labeling our President as misogynistic, racist, baby-killer, pig, etc. Keep in mind this is the same deranged group of people who have just announced that pedophilia isn’t a crime, it’s a sexual preference. We seriously allow these people to make executive decisions for our country, and that can’t happen anymore! We must protect our country and our borders at all costs. If we cannot control the flow of immigrants into our great nation, we will fall. In the wise words of Ronald Reagan, “A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation."
